“It Cost you nothing, Pay me no mind!” – Jay-Z
If you pay attention to something long enough that is not traveling with you or in the same direction you will eventually find yourself in a place you did not expect to go. A distraction can only become a force if you give it attention a long enough to become one.
Ever procrastinate to get something done that is very important? You need to get it done and its due before right before July. It is now the last week of June you are ready to begin to tackle the task. It’s hot so you have your window open and a fly enters the room. You are anxious, your anxiety drives up your blood pressure, and you are warmer than usual. The fly seems to wanna be right next to you as if he is trying to get the task done with you. Now you are annoyed. You do everything in your power to swat the fly, “shoo” him out of the window, something…anything to get rid of the fly; but the fly is sincere to be right there with you. He is cunning swift and very skilled in avoiding your efforts to get rid of him. You then realize the effort will come to no avail so you temporarily ignore it sit down and you realize you just spent over a half hour messing with the fly.
Now let’s play the same situation after a fun night out with friends. You’ve drank a bit, the alcohol has your body temperature up a bit but you had a long night, so you disrobe lay down. Your fly friend again is present. As you turn over he come to say “wassup” lands on your face, you wave hello in attempts to get him to leave, he does but then lands on you again. You had fun that night and you are focused on sleep. You pay him no mind then in seconds you forget he is in the room.
What’s the difference?
Your initial focus and how much attention you paid this small distraction. All distractions are small; be it people, situations or circumstance. The difference between the mediocre and the great (distraction) is not the difference in more or less problems or distraction but how one chooses to deal with the problem or distraction when they arise.
Do you pay attention to distractions and complain or do you let them arise ignore them; because when one masters how to ignore distraction they naturally become masters in avoiding distraction all together because they virtually no longer exist.

I live by this no distractions that are not helping me grow
I truly enjoyed this piece. I like how it was written on my b’day. To work through all the distractions life throws at you, showcases the type of character you have and you desire to win. 🙂
