“Be the Change you want to see in the world” – Gandhi
¡Namaskar! Be the change you want to see. That is something I say to myself everyday. I do my best to live by that standard and stand strong in the statement. Sometimes, to do so can become difficult due to the fact when you live to you own standard (often a standard no one else understands) you can be criticized, and ostracized. I find such an occurrence fine because I know to understand the past will help me have faith in the future; and faith in the future allows me to have power in the present.
As I grow I find myself utilizing and optimizing my times of solitude. I study and understand the greats who came before me (Gandhi, Jesus, Mohammed, Confucius, Buddha) all spent extended times alone to build their monuments that began in their mind. Even evil genius’ spent time alone jailed before they effectively carried out their plans. They had to become and carry out the change they wanted to see.
I take the quote a step further. To be the change you want to see will create a beautiful world, because when you become the change you want to see, often others will want to follow. I find myself often creating and setting new standards in the facility in which I work. The more I embody my own principles and live by them; I naturally become an example of my own morals. I can sometimes be strict; and with standards comes more rules, you would think juveniles would lash out or go against such a person, but I find more often than none that the youth (who are often in the state of mind of finding and being themselves) often listen and want to also learn how to be the change they want to see. It starts with the confidence of simply living to you own standard and being comfortable with yourself. When you are genuine there will always be others willing to be with, around and willing to listen to you.
Be the master copy and always question yourself…are you worth duplicating.
