Happiness

Humans are a creature of habit.  Your thoughts dictate your actions, your actions create habit.  To often we feel don’t control our thoughts and we blame actions on our thoughts; and that done often enough becomes habit also.  We are in control, but when we lose sight of ourselves and we realize the habits we have, we don’t want to claim what we have become therefore we lose power over ourselves.  We blame our enviroment, or influences, our friends, jobs and many other circumstances.
One realization I had today on the train, is as humans we all want to feel good.  The majority of the population do not feel good that is why we listen to and watch most of the things we do, due to the fact it gives us similar feelings of our current situation.  But, I noticed we all love to watch true beauty and be in a good enviroment.  On the train there was an older couple in their 50s sitting in front of me.  The man had his arm around his lady, they seemed very content in eachothers company.  As they left 59th street and got closer to their stop (Grand Central) on the 4 train they began to speak and laughed with eachother.  The man grabbed her face kissed her, they smiled.  I felt the enjoyment they felt for one another.  As I looked around the train I noticed most of the other people riding on the train also was looking at the couple.  Only about one face looked at the couple with contempt, others showed small gestures of happiness and others just observed the best they could without staring.
I work with juvenile delinquents and as much as they play “tough”, tell war stories and glorify who is the worst; when presented with a situation that will make them feel better they will always gravitate towards that situation.  Present a positive opportunity to one youth and the other youth will always try to find a way to be in the same or similar situation.
The youth who truly grow and change are the ones who choose to change their thoughts about themselves and their circumstance.  That then allows them to control their thoughts and have more positive thoughts in the day than negative.  Their thoughts then precede their actions and they act better.  When they act more positive not only do they feel better but, their situation also reflects.  When they act a certain way long enough it becomes habit and feeling good is more of a normal feeling than ever before.
No matter where you are from, where you were born, where you lived, one parent or two as young children we found happiness in the simplest joys our world had to offer.  Anytime any of us view a baby we immediately smile, and when we see a child upset we begin to smile and do as much as we can to make the baby feel better and smile because we know it is not natural or something may be wrong, that is why the baby is crying.  Our first thought, and reaction towards a baby is always one with happiness first.  If it is not, we try to find a way to make sure everything around the baby is happy and well.
It is natural for us to feel and be good!
Dictate your thoughts, feelings, and actions.  Always find a way to feel a little bit better than you currently do and change your world! ¡Namaskar!
