People Do Not Matter!

People don’t Matter,
People don’t Matter,
People Do Not Matter!

This is a statement I have come to live by the more as I grow and find understanding with self.  People do not matter.  The only things that matter in life are forces that will make an impact and need no permission to express itself.
The weather is a good example of something in life that matters.  Whether or not you agree, the weather can change environments, moods, and decisions; it cannot be stopped, and you are always aware of it.  Why, because it matters!

We have grown up in a society where we allow a lot of factors (often irrelevant) to effect our environment, mood and decisions.  When we are young (certain) people do matter.  Our caretakers matter due to the fact they can affect our circumstance because they provide us with the environment in which we live and they make decisions for us.  As we mature and become older, the more independent we become the less people matter.

People only matter because we give them relevance.  We allow ourselves to be concerned with what people think about us when we speak, act and dress a particular way.  As children we acted the way we truly felt because in a lot of ways people did not matter.  We did not give thought to how people would think, say or interpret our actions, so we did virtually what we wanted to even in the time when a person or people did matter.
As we grow in society we choose to keep the relevance of people alive.  Although they may not directly make decisions for us, we allow them to strongly influence our decisions and moods.  Both men and women will get dressed a certain way due to what we think others may think of us.  Woman will dress uncomfortably for hours in the name of fashion and to be sexy, to acquire attention from others.  We allow others to affect our moods both positively and negatively depending on who the person is.  Ever notice how two people can say the same thing to the same person but that message can be taken two different ways.  On one hand the message can be ignored and one can be indifferent about what was said, and on the other hand the message can be deeply personalized and life changing.  That happens because to that person the message changed due to the relevance the particular party.  We practice in allowing things that don’t truly matter to do so and the things that do matter are often ignored or looked over to the point where they are forgotten; whether that is something like the weather or ourselves.

I can understand why people matter to some folks but I become confused with the concept when I make certain observations and realizations.  I often wonder about people and what influences lifestyle, and choice.  People will say one thing and do another all in the name of civilization.  We do what we do to please people, or to look a certain way to people not factoring the fact that the decision will only directly affect us and at best indirectly affect those in thought.  It also applies with the words we choose to express at a certain time.  We will commit certain acts with particular intentions and interest.  Whether those actions are with good or bad intentions, positive or negative interest, they are all made by an individual for the individual.
People are honest or deceitful, brash or indirect all for reasons of their own.  We feel we do it for others, whether to avoid or get a reaction, or to affect the immediate or distant future.  What we don’t realize is we will always meet our destiny, even if we are on the roads running away from it.

We live in an interesting paradigm in which we engage in acts for contradicting reasons.  We commit selfish acts in the name of selflessness we also commit acts with and for people when people truly do not matter in what or why we are doing what we are doing.  We make decisions based on the illusion we create to validate our actions.  If people really mattered to the degree in which we act or say they do, we would all do unto others as they asked.  Our own personal morals and decisions would play no part in what we do to and for others.

We all live as if people do not matter, but the tension and friction is only present when try to act as if we do.  We all look in the mirrors alone.  We all have thoughts that occur only an individuals mind.  We all commit countless acts a day without thinking of others.  An individual, for reasons, feels happiness, sadness and anger only an individual can think and express.  A group is only a collection of individuals.  Choice begins within.  One can only walk the road to their destiny alone.  When one realizes people, circumstance and surroundings do not matter, the awakening occurs in noticing the world is an illusion created and confirmed by the individual.  That is why People Do Not Matter!

  1. I would like to take your statement further and say most people don’t matter but there are key people who do matter. Those who love you, would die for you, support you and are generally concerned about you and your happiness do matter

    1. Those who matter are the people you choose to concern yourself with. The choice of influence lies within the individual. The point is not being made for people not to matter, but for ones concern to be aware of what they allow to matter.
