The Tunnel

“I can see the light at the end of the Tunnel.” How many times have we heard or said that? Within any difficult situation that quote probably runs through our minds as a reason to become or remain optimistic. I have developed a new relationship with the quote. I have changed my focus being in the current state of change, called life.
A tunnel is defined in many ways. It can be used as a noun: an underground passageway, or a verb: to excavate. Another description is to pierce or hollow out. As humans we are poured into from the time of birth. We learn how to speak, we are taught how to act, we develop beliefs, we teach ourselves how to interpret experiences and, the list goes on. We are all full. The enlightened learn how to become empty vessels to allow new lessons to promote growth.
“The journey is the destination.” We don’t live life to get to an end goal. We live life to find a journey to begin. We are in search for a new tunnel to enter. To pierce and hollow out old habits to become new and have a fresh look at life. The forest is filled with trees that began as seeds that no one can see. Most importantly the seed grows and becomes new in a process no one can view and witness. The seed begins the process looking nothing like what it becomes. An acorn does not resemble an oak tree, the seed of a fruit does not look like the fruit nor does it bear a resemblance to the tree it falls from. We all enjoy the fruit but we truly appreciate the seeds they bare to create more of the same.
“What is in darkness will come to light. What is in light came from darkness.” A quote developed when I paid attention to all processes in life. Embrace and have grace in the tunnel. The light will always be there.
